  1. Fishing around boat docks, and swimming rafts may be one of the most
  2. enjoyable forms of bass fishing. There are times when a boat dock can have
  3. two or three people walking around on it, yet you will be able to catch
  4. fish there. Some boat docks will not hold fish, while others seem to produce
  5. time after time. The best docks seem to be located either near deep water, or
  6. close to some other type of cover. Perhaps one of the best weapons for
  7. catching bass around boat docks is the Gitzit or G-2.

  9. These baits are soft bodied tube shaped lures with tentacles resembling an
  10. octopus. They work the best when rigged with a 1/16 ounce lead head and
  11. fished on a spinning rod with 6 or 8 pound test line. The light line allows
  12. the bait to spiral and undulate in a manner similar to an injured minnow.
  13. The light lead head allows the bait to fall slowly, with it's tentacles
  14. quivering. The advantage of the spinning rod is that it allows accurate
  15. casting of these light 'finesse' baits.

  17. One of the most effective ways to present the bait to the bass is to skip it
  18. up under the boat dock using a side arm cast. In this way, the tube lure
  19. looks like a baitfish jumping out of the water trying to evade a larger fish.
  20. When the bait stops skipping, allow it to fall a foot or two before giving it
  21. a slight twitch, then let it fall again. Most strikes will come either as soon
  22. as the bait hits the water, or when it first starts to fall.
